Stephan LaCasse is a singer-songwriter living in Roberts Creek (xwesam / Stelḵáya) on the Sunshine Coast in BC. After many years singing in bands in the Toronto music scene, he decided it was time for a change of scenery and made the move to the west coast in summer of 2022.
Growing up, Stephan was heavily influenced by a variety of different genres, including rock, pop, punk, and folk. This diverse range of influences can be heard in his music, which combines elements of each style to create a sound that is uniquely his own. LaCasse has had songs on the radio, television, film and commercials. He has played hundreds of gigs throughout his career, ranging from corner pubs and barn weddings, to arena shows and large festivals, and currently plays regularly around BC's Sunshine Coast.
In January 2023, LaCasse released his first solo record “Whiskey Creek Surf Shop Blues”. 10 acoustic songs that he produced in late 2022. The songs have a distinctly unique folk and rock crossover sound, with singalong-worthy melodies, dance-inducing stomp-clap percussion, and kitchen-party instrumentation all framing a fresh, confident voice that can swing between soft and dark to bright and powerful on a dime. Likewise, LaCasse’s lyrics sway from sharp and poetic to catchy and fun, verse to verse. In our digital age of overproduced, single-serving songs, LaCasse’s irreverently minimalist approach to a full-length release is refreshing and highly entertaining.
When he's not performing or recording, Stephan enjoys editing music videos, animating, spending time with his family, mountain biking the Sunshine Coast trails and playing guitar on the beach. He is truly a talented and unique artist, and his music is sure to resonate with fans for years to come.
